Virtual cartography and also the field of virtual topography have three-dimensional virtual maps with responsive topographic lines or colors indicating different geological or topographic characteristics. Virtual map making can be productively applied for construction, earthmoving, mining and energy exploration, and real property uses. See also Virtual Mermaids for additional information.

While most virtual home tours are not yet immersive or truly 3D Virtual Reality, they are growing rapidly and it is probable that truly immersive and 3D real property tours for both the consumer market and residential property will be created in the midst of the next five years.
